Troops from HQ Allied Rapid Reaction Corps (HQ ARRC) Support Battalion, based at Imjin Barracks in Innsworth, recently participated in a ‘community day of action’ in Churchdown.

The event, which took place on Friday, 17 February from 10am to 4pm, was organized by personnel from the Tewkesbury Borough Council, GL3 Community Hub, several local parish councils, Imjin Barracks, and other partner organisations in the region.

During the event, the Imjin-based soldiers participated with well over 50 local volunteers from around the area in a variety of community cleanup activities, all aimed at general area beautification in the greater Churchdown area.

Armed with a variety of garden tools, particularly a chainsaw, the troops focused much of their effort at clearing brush, trees, and debris from a stream bed in the area.

Sgt. Steve Bristol, the troop leader for the Imjin Barracks’ crew, was extremely enthusiastic about the event.

"It’s good to (be able to) help the local community, and it’s also good to be able to help the environment,” said Bristol.
