International Children’s Festival

The Turkish element hosted an International Children's Festival on Joint Force Command, Naples April 23. The day included students from 10 different schools singing, dancing, poetry and an art competition. "I think the event was a great success,” said Captain Bulent Olcay, festival organizer. "The kids were happy.”

Holocaust Remembrance

A Holocaust Remembrance Program, featuring the testimony of Holocaust survivor Salomone Venezia, was held at Joint Force Command, Naples April 16. Mr. Venezia is an Italian Jew who survived the Nazi concentration camp of Auschwitz-Birkenau. Mr. Venezia was assigned to the Sonderkommando of one of the largest crematoriums in Birkenau. His job was to cut the hair and remove the bodies of those who were killed in the gas chambers. "There are many stories going around but I never tell things I have not seen for myself,” said Mr. Venezia.

Visit of Ambassador of Portugal to Italy

Outstanding Military Service Member First Half 2010 Winner

MSgt Vincze, Hungarian Army, Operations Directorate Joint Assessment Branch, won the Outstanding Military Service Member First Half 2010 at Joint Force Command, Naples 15 April. Commander JFC Naples Admiral Mark Fitzgerald will present MSgt. Vincze the award in early May. The Outstanding Military Service Member selection board chaired by Senior Enlisted Leader Sgt. Maj. Gnoernich, German Army, interviewed 13 nominees for the Outstanding Military Service Member for the first half of 2010.
