Celebrated in Taji the Graduation of Third Senior Non-Commissioned Officer Course

TAJI 17th September 2009 –– On 17 September, 2009, 51 Senior Non-Commissioned Officers (NCOs) from all areas of the Iraqi Army and two from the Iraqi Air Force graduated from the third Senior Non-Commissioned Officer Course on Camp Taji. These students trained for 45 days in a course designed as a prerequisite for promotion to Senior Non-Commissioned Officer (E7 – E9). Training began on 5 August with an opening day ceremony.
Distinguished guests included Lieutenant General Hussein (Deputy Chief of Staff for Training), Staff Major General Samir (Basic Tactical Training Directorate Commander), Staff Brigadier General Sabah (Taji Location Command Commander), and Lieutenant Colonel Hyder (Non-Commissioned Officer Academy Commander). Lieutenant General Hussein was the guest speaker and spoke to the students on the importance of ethics and values in Non-Commissioned Officers of the Iraqi Army. Students also presented a slide show on the training throughout the course. Diplomas were distributed to all graduates. Additional gifts were presented to the top students and senior instructors of the course.
The next Senior Non-Commissioned Officer Course is scheduled to begin on 1 November and end on 24 December 2009. The NATO staff to support this training is increasing in number with 3 NCO augmentees supporting the next course and thereafter a permanent team of one officer and 7 NCOs. The course will continue to be vital in the Iraqi Army's development into a professional fighting force.
