Commander

TG Caslen was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Infantry in June 1975 upon graduation from the United States Military Academy.

His assignments include Platoon Leader, 2d Battalion, 47th Infantry, Fort Lewis, Washington; Commander, C Company, 3d Battalion, 47th Infantry, Fort Lewis Washington; command and staff assignments include S4 (Logistics), 3d Brigade, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Kentucky; S3 (Operations), 3d Brigade, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Kentucky; Commander, 1st Battalion, 14th Infantry, 25th Infantry Division (Light), Schofield Barracks, Hawaii; Chief of Staff, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Kentucky; Commander, 2d Brigade, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Kentucky; Chief of Staff, 10th Mountain Division (Light), Fort Drum, New York; Assistant Division Commander (Maneuver), 3d Infantry Division (Mechanized), Fort Stewart, Georgia; and Commanding General, 25th Infantry Division, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii.

His combat tours include Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm with the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault); Operation Uphold Democracy in Haiti as the Executive Officer to the Deputy Commander; Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan, and Operation Iraqi Freedom as the Commanding General, 25th Infantry Division/Commanding General, Multi-National Division-North.

He served as the Assistant Deputy Director for Strategy and Policy and Deputy Director for War on Terrorism, J5, The Joint Staff, Washington, DC; and Commandant of Cadets, United States Military Academy, West Point, New York. He recently commanded the United States Army Combined Arms Center and Fort Leavenworth at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.

His military education includes the Infantry Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, United States Army Infantry School, Fort Benning, Georgia, the U.S. Army Command & General Staff College, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, and the United States Army War College.

He holds a Bachelor of Science from the United States Military Academy, a Master of Business Administration from Long Island University, C.W. Post, and a Master of Science in Industrial Engineering from Kansas State University.

He and his wife Shelly have three boys: Robert, a Firefighter; Nicholas, a FBI Agent; and Jeffrey who is a 1LT in the 3rd INF Division.
